Pantheon
Pantheon takes place on a massive earth-like planet embroiled in conflict, sporting a large cast of characters and drawing on such aesthetics as high and low fantasy, dystopian cyberpunk, supernatural horror, neo-noir, and classical mythology. The series centers around three women, their journey to godhood, and their relationship with the enigmatic figure known as String Man.
Prelude to Pantheon is a series of short stories and vignettes which collectively set the stage for this much larger adventure. These bits vary widely in length and are paired with background tracks, which I draw upon crucially in my inspirations for characters, world-building, and narrative.
Genesis
Pantheon was originally conceived through a childhood hobby of listening to dramatic music playlists during long car rides, and imagining stories that might tie those songs together. Over time the narratives grew more focused, recurring characters emerged, and the rest of the world began to take shape.
Years later, Pantheon has become a single massive story - a lengthy, all-consuming epic whose scenes and characters are inextricably tied (both in my mind and on the page) to specific songs. In my wildest ambitions, the many stories which comprise the world of Pantheon will be fully realized as a series of animated features, exploring synergies between the tracks I’ve selected and their corresponding narrative beats.
To all visitors: I hope you enjoy this story I’ve crafted, I invite you to leave comments and feedback, and welcome to the world of Pantheon!
Note on Creative Ownership
Many of the characters featured in Pantheon are entirely of my own invention; many others are heavily inspired by characters from existing works of fiction; and a handful are simply lifted wholesale in name and persona, inasmuch as can be accommodated without seeming too self-indulgent.
Characters that were inspired by other franchises will always be credited, alongside links to the original works. Should any of these characters, as they appear in Pantheon, strike you as likeable or inspiring, I sincerely hope you take the time to check out the source material behind them as well.
